A Day of Sharing is a new professional development opportunity for Elementary and Middle School Counselors. The conference will offer keynote speakers presenting on topics related to educational reform and the role of the school counselor. Presenters:
Vivian Lee, Director, Counselor Advocacy at National Office for School Counselor Advocacy (NOSCA) of the College Board, since June 2004. NOSCA is a dynamic office that is charged with advocating for school counselors on a national level. Mrs. Lee will present on the importance of the role of the school counselor and relationships with administrators.
Laura S. Sahr, NYSED (Coordinates NYSED’s implementation of the Dignity For All Students Act)
New York State’s Dignity for All Students Act (The Dignity Act) seeks to provide the State’s public elementary and secondary school students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function (NYSED, 2011). Laura Sahr has been with the New York State Education (NYSED) Department since 1982. She is currently coordinating and guiding NYSED’s implementation of the Dignity For All Students Act (Dignity Act).
