 BECOMING A DATA EXPERT & CHANGE AGENT FOR YOUR SCHOOL 
LEARNING OUTCOMES


Participants will learn to: Align school counseling to the goals of the school and district; Use basic data skills necessary to promote equity in creating goals and system-wide interventions; Use strategic planning that supports school improvement plans; Work intentionally to promote equity in college and career readiness outcomes; Focus on accountability measured in student outcomes.
Description: Participants will learn how to align their work to school and district goals by using data to drive their interventions. Participants will learn how to access, analyze, disaggregate, cross-tabulate and chart longitudinal data directly linked to student achievement through the use of multiple data sources. Additionally, participants will learn how to assess their current programs and services to begin the process of developing a data-driven school counseling program.

                   Advocacy (NOSCA) of the College Board since June 2004.

          Target Audience:  Administrators, Directors of Guidance, School Counselors
                                          (Elementary School, Middle School, High School)

All local BOCES provide professional development and support services and you should check with your local BOCES to see what is offered.  These offerings are not intended to take the place of similar offerings provided by your own BOCES. 


To register online go to: www.pnwboces.org/catalog.  Select “Guidance and Child Study Center” and click “View Now”.  Scroll down to view workshop offerings and click on the workshop name.  Select the “Click to Enroll” button to register.  Print your registration form and follow the directions on the form to mail your registration and payment.  Registration will be confirmed by e-mail upon payment receipt.  There will be a 15% administrative fee added to the billing of schools/agencies that are NOT A COMPONENT OF A BOCES.

WPRCA New or Untenured High School Counselors Meeting Nov 9, 2012




We invite all new or untenured high school counselors presently working in a school to attend a mentoring session this Fall!
NOTE: This is not the appropriate session for current graduate students or interns.

Enjoy a morning with other new colleagues and veteran counselors as we explore topics that are pertinent to the first few years on the job. 

Topics will include but not be limited to:
·        Responsibilities of the new counselor
·        Supervision
·        Observations
·        Contact with parents/guardians/families
·        College process
·        Building relationships with faculty and staff
We ask the counselors to bring ideas, questions, and concerns they have about being new in their position and we discuss in a roundtable type setting.

We look forward to seeing you and please RSVP if you are able to attend.

WPRCA is proud to announce a scholarship opportunity for up to 2 WPRCA members to attend the NYSSCA (New York State School Counseling Association) Annual Conference 2012 this fall to be held on November 9th and 10th with a Pre-Conference on November 8th at The Albany Marriott Hotel in Albany, NY. This scholarship is available to either a practicing school counselor or a current graduate student enrolled in a counseling program.

The scholarship will cover the cost of registration and housing for the conference up to $500.
