“THE DIGNITY FOR ALL STUDENTS ACT: COUNSELORS AS CHANGE AGENTS”
This keynote presentation is designed to increase the knowledge, skills, and abilities around components of the Dignity for All Students Act. Participants will be provided with approaches to address the human relations concepts including, but not limited to, the eleven protected classes and reporting requirements that are mandated under the law.
Dr. Felicia A. Watson is a nationally recognized education advocate with over 14 years experience driving the improvement of federal and state educational programs through professional development conferences and trainings aimed at policy implementation, academic improvement, professional development and positive youth development. Ms. Watson has worked with hundreds of schools and led federal and state program officers, school board members, superintendents, principals, teachers and counselors in positive school reform through best practices and continuous quality improvement models. She is co-founder of The National Institute for School Safety, experts in school safety assessment, planning, project management, training and technical support for systemic approaches to creating a safe and positive school climate. Ms. Watson holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration, and a doctorate of divinity/philosophy. She is a member of the Dignity for All Students Act Statewide Task Force. She is also host and producer of a Time Warner Cable public access television talk show and has interviewed hundreds of educators, celebrities and activists.
